Personality:
Tabby is hyperactive, cheerful, and forever optimistic. She delights in everyone and everything in life and is filled with childhood innocence and the pure joy of living. She can be rather naïve when it comes to dealing with other people, and she has a tendency to trust everyone she meets. She's never had any experiences that would make her think otherwise, so this naïveté has the potential to get her in a lot of trouble when she goes out into the "real world."
Story:
Tabitha is a half-elf who lives with an ancient wise-woman in a tiny cottage inland from a tiny sea cove on a tiny island off the coast of the wilderlands. Her mother is an elven doran who lived in the far southlands, and her father is a human scholar from Marandall, by the name of William Spencer. He was sent to study the lives and ways of the doran, as the Scholars are wont to do. He fully intended to remain objective in his studies, and indeed for most of his first year as the doran's guest, he was courteous and interested in her life and ways, but he remained distant. However, even the dustiest of scholars have a libido buried somewhere (har har), and the elven woman was indeed beautiful. What really attracted him to her, however, was her beautiful, pure mind. She could lose herself for days in thoughtful contemplation, thinking beautiful thoughts. Likewise, Elliniriel (for that was her name) was attracted to his keen interest in the world around him and his unique perspective on the world. They fell in love, and theirs was truly a love story to be remembered by time. With the permission of the Scholars in Marandall, he left the order and stayed with Elliniriel. They married three years after William's arrival, and after a further two years Elliniriel bore a daughter whom they gave the human name of Tabitha. Her elven name, the secret name given to all elves and half-elves, is Ainadelothiel, which is Elven for "seeker of knowledge."
Unfortunately, however, Tabby doesn't quite share her parents' love of knowledge. She's a hyperactive little girl with a love of exploring and mud puddles. Perhaps some day she will mature into a doran like her mother or a great scholar like her father, but in the meantime she's getting her hi-jinx out. Her companion in crime is her familiar, an orphaned river-otter whom she named Marley. She found Marley in a den by the river outside her home after a fox killed Marley's mother and littermates. The half-grown otter kit was injured and bewildered when Tabby found it and surely would have died if she hadn't taken it home for her mummy to heal. She named it Marley because she thought the name sounded cool (eight year olds tend to think like that).
Tabby isn't at home when Fallon first meets her. Rather, she is living with the wise-woman, a doran herself, off the Marandall coast. But more on that later.
Notes on design
As with all of my characters, Tabitha does not have a set outfit or costume. However, she is still a child, so she does not wear revealing clothing or armor. She tends to wear skirts and dresses, but she doesn't really care as long as she can still romp around and get herself as filthy as possible before going home. ^_^;
She is nearly always with her familiar, the river otter Marley. Marley is her best friend, and the two do everything together. Marley is big for a river otter and is fiercely attached to his mistress. He's like a bodyguard who takes his duties entirely too seriously...and he loathes everybody except his mistress. (well, and her mum, anyway.) In particular, he can't stand Fallon or Noah for some reason, and the feeling is mutual. :D
